Milestones!

August turned out to be a splendid month.  After a successful and uneventful procedure to remove Theo's dialysis catheter, we are happy to share that Theo's labs have been stable, he is full of energy, and he has reached new milestones on the development front.

Some of the highlights from the past month, in picture form:

Theo took his first bath.  It's safe to say that he loves being in the water.

He went swimming in a pool for the first time.  Despite chilly temperatures, he was overflowing with joy.

And one day shy of 21 months old, he just decided that he could walk.  He hasn't stopped since then, and we enjoyed a weekend in Asheville over Labor Day chasing him all over the place.

We're so proud of Theo.  He is such a happy, fun kid.  You'd never know by looking at him or watching him that he's been through so many medical challenges.  Nick and I often stop to remind ourselves that a few months ago we weren't sure that he'd even come home again.  To see him now... all I can say is WOW.

I've talked with so many people recently, mostly people I don't know well, who have told me that they've been praying for Theo. From the bottom of our hearts, we can't thank you enough.  This little boy is a testament to the power of your prayers.  Miracles do happen every single day.
