Saturday update - May 18th

Not much new to report from the PICU today.  Theo had a stable day.  No blood transfusions, no trips to the OR, no new surprises.  That's a win in my book.

Theo with his peritoneal dialysis machine 2 days before transplant
The one thing we are still praying for is kidney function.  His creatinine climbed (slightly) overnight again, so Theo got his first round of hemodialysis today.  Dialysis allowed Theo to survive until he was big enough and ready for transplant, so we are so thankful for it.  But, we are praying that dialysis is a very temporary need this time, and that Dubya starts working again soon.  (I'd love if it started working tonight.)

In addition to praying for kidney function, we are back to praying for bowel function so that his belly will not be so distended and he can start receiving nutrition through his stomach.   Yes, I know.  This is at least the third time praying for pee and poop.  Our prayers have been answered before on this, so we are believing they will be again!

Nick and I are feeling a lot better today.  I'm not really sure why, because nothing has dramatically improved.  But, I know a lot of people have been praying for us to have peace and feel comfort, so your prayers must be working.  Thank you.

Theo seemed comfortable today, despite the big belly and the ventilator.  We are all ready to see him happy, waving, and blowing kisses again.  My dad flew in this morning, and generously volunteered to spend the night at the hospital so Nick and I could have a night together.  It's been wonderful.

Thank you for the continued prayers for Theo and for us.  We feel them, we know they are being heard, and we trust that God will answer them.
